As one of the longest-operating public high schools in the United States, Towson High School is home to a thriving music program. With a student body of about 1450 students, THS offers a
variety of musical
opportunities for every student. If you are considering enrolling in a music class please consider the following:

1. Most incoming 9th graders to Towson High School should sign up for the following classes: |

- Woodwinds & Brass should take Concert Band
- Strings should take Concert Orchestra
- Vocalists should take Concert Choir
- Percussionists should take Percussion Ensemble

| 2. Participation in the advanced performing ensembles (Chamber Orchestra GT, Wind Ensemble GT, Jazz Ensemble, and Honors Chorale) is by teacher recommendation only. Advanced students may enroll in these ensembles ONLY if their middle school or high school music teacher recommends them. Interested students may contact the following teachers to discuss placement in the advanced ensembles. |

| 3. Guitar is available to all students, even if you have no musical experience. All students should enroll in Guitar I first, and may be placed into a higher-level class based on their playing ability and knowledge of music theory. |
