At Towson High School we are currently offering Guitar Level I, II, and III classes. Students must successfully complete Guitar I in order to take Guitar II and Guitar II to take Guitar III.

Guitar Level I is a sequential program of year-long instruction comprised of eight units. Through the study of music theory, vocabulary, musical styles, historical reference, and the opportunities for performance on acoustic guitar, students will gain the skills necessary for basic guitar playing.

Guitar I satisfies the Maryland State requirements for one (1) fine arts credit.

Students should have the desire to develop musical skills with the guitar as a primary focus and concentration. This class is an ongoing exploration of proper methods, instrument maintenance, and concert techniques used in guitar performance. Students of varying abilities and levels will be in this class. It is not necessary to have any experience on the guitar prior to your enrollment. Guitar will be provided for each student for use in the classroom.

It is the goal of this class to teach basic guitar performance and to instill a love for guitar, learning, and music within each student. Everyday you should come to class with an eagerness to learn and play guitar! After the successful completion of Guitar I students may elect to take Guitar II the following year.

Guitar II and III build upon the skills developed in Guitar I.
